131 players proved that you never give up, never surrender and there’s Death or Glory this past weekend at the Michigan GT Warhammer 40k Tournament. As a battle point tournament anyone could win the event provided their scores were high enough. In fact one undefeated player was in 25th place.
That being said, high scoring armies especially those with access to their own unique secondaries took top spots at the Michigan GT. Such as the Adeptus Mechanicus and Drukhari. In fact only 3 of the top 20 lacked access to Faction Secondaries at the Michigan GT.
Michigan GT 1st Place: Brad Chester – Drukhari:
Brad Chester is back with a vengeance after a second place showing at New Orleans. His list plays much as it did the week before. As they say, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Not only was Brad the highest scorer at the event he was also undefeated. The Wracks may surprise folks but they are slightly tougher than other Drukhari troops so can do their job in that regard.

Michigan GT 2nd Place: Thomas Ogden – Adeptus Mechanicus
While the final list does appear different from the initial list the change is small but significant. Mainly Losing a minimum ranger squad to take the required Marshall which made the list Legal. It’s odd there was no point penalty for his initially illegal list at a tournament where placings are determined by battle points.
3 flyers required the extra patrol detachment but brought mobility and damage in the movement phase. Great for when there is a C’tan or Grazkull that limit the max wounds lost per phase.
Mars has established dominance of the veteran cohorts bringing canticles to the Skitarii for compounded offense and defense. Mars rerolls to hit make up for the lack of core on the Ironstriders and other vehicles. Aside from the list issue, well done this past weekend at the Michigan GT Warhammer 40k Tournament here in 2021.

Michigan GT 3rd place: Kramer Doyle – Drukhari
Congratulations to Kramer Doyle for his perseverance as it paid off at the Michigan GT Warhammer 40k Tournament. By 2 point Drukhari sneaked past a 4th place showing of another undefeated Admech player.
The Drukhari list features the standards of most other Drukhari list. The different flavor of Kabal Poisoned Tongue, gives access to the Stratagem Insidious Misdirection. This lets up to 3 units redeploy to include being placed into Strategic Reserve. Great to deploy aggressively and undo that deployment in case the roll of to go first is lost. Or you could deploy defensively and capitalize on your opponents’ deployment by moving your units. This matters as the Raiders can hold the the specialist units and get them to where they need to be.
Unlike Brad Chester, Kramer Doyle took advantage of the Trueborn. Great for their special and heavy weapons but also taking advantage of the bonus to poison that the Poisoned Tongue have.
Well done and great job at sticking with it.
