Friday Night Magic is upon us once again, and we’re mixing things up a bit here at Nights At The Game Table!
Throughout the history of Mana Wars, most of the pitched battles and awesome showdowns have been covered by our commentator team, deck-building expert and tournament player Aryeh Wiznitzer and our very own former Pro-Tournament player, Kevin O’Connor.
But this week, we’re flipping things around, and seeing who will come out victorious when Kevin and Aryeh go head-to-head!

Kevin: Selesnya Legion’s Landing/Emmara, Soul Of The Accord

Although Kevin hasn’t played competitive magic in years, he’s more than prepared to bring the pain with this Selesnya Deck! Combining some older classics with a few powerful new additions from Guilds Of Ravnica, this deck is definitely not something to be trifled with! Starting off this deck is an Ixalan classic, Legion’s Landing, which allows for easy creation of a 1/1 Vampire token. Making matters worse is Emmara, Soul Of The Accord, which creates a 1/1 Soldier Token every time it’s tapped. By serving up so many creatures quickly, Legion’s Landing can quickly transform into the legendary land Adanto, The First Forst, which will continue feeding Kevin’s side of the field with Vampire tokens. If Aryeh’s not careful, these Vampires and Soldiers will bleed him dry before he can react!

Kevin’s full deck list includes:

Creatures (18)

  • 4 Emmara, Soul of the Accord

Aryeh: R/W/U Cleansing Nova/Teferi, Hero Of Dominaria

Aryeh’s deck-building skills have certainly come in handy this week, as he’s put together a versatile deck with a rainbow of colors that should be able to handle a wide variety of scenarios. In particular, one of his core cards is Cleansing Nova, which will allow him to either destroy all creatures or all artifacts/enchantments on the field. Due to Kevin’s deck featuring the heavy use of a multitude of tokens, Cleansing Nova could potentially be invaluable in giving Aryeh some breathing room to put his plans into motion. Finally, the combo of expansion/explosion provides Aryeh with the chance to either deal some quick damage or copy his sorceries, ensuring that he can keep Kev on his toes. When combined with the removal abilities of Teferi, Hero of Dominaria, Aryeh should have no trouble keeping Kevin’s best cards off the field!
