Another epic battle is on the docket this week in Mana Wars, with Kevin and his Blue Tempo deck taking on Aryeh and his Izzet Drakes deck! As always, the expert staff of Pat’s Games has helped with the tactics and construction of these decks, and only time will tell what happens when these two expert players face off!

Kevin: Mono Blue Tempo – Curious Obsession, Tempest Djinn, Mist Cloaked Herald

Kevin’s deckis built with one key purpose in mind: flood the field with lands to give Tempest Djinn all the power he needs to end the game in one fell swoop. Of course, to get there, he’s going to need to draw as many lands as possible. To do that, Kevin will be doing his best to attach curious obsession to a Mist-Cloaked Herald, with the unblockable creature allowing Kevin  to both deal 2 damage AND allow Kevin to draw a card. (And, of course, with multiple copies of each, it’s entirely possible Kevin will be drawing up to 4 cards per turn.) From there, he should have all the draw power he needs to keep the lands coming and turn Tempest Djinn into a game-ending powerhouse.

Aryeh: Izzet DrakesCrackling Drake, Arclight Phoenix

Aryeh’s deck is built around two powerful fliers capable of dealing a ton of damage on the opponent; crackling drake, which only gets stronger with each sorcery that is cast (made even easier with cards like Goblin Electromancer), and Arclight Phoenix, which can reliably cause 3 damage and easily find its way back onto the field if it’s destroyed. When combined with creature-destruction spells such as Lava Coil, Aryeh will be looking to establish board control quickly and give his flyers clear skies to wreak havoc in!
