It’s another Magic Monday here at Nights At The Game Table! This week, we’ll be pitting a classic Esper Deck against a heavily M19-influenced WU Monument Deck! To see how these decks stack up, check out the full deck lists below! As always, thank you to the great staff at Pat’s Games for all of their amazing work and support! If you want to build the decks that we use here on the show, Pat’s is definitely the place to go!
We’ve got two of our classic players this week, Morgan and Ryan, taking the reigns of these two decks to see what they can do!
Morgan
Morgan is charging into battle with a WU Monument Deck, based primarily on Oketra’s Monument and Mentor of the Meek. Not only does Oketra’s Monument make it faster and easier to cast white creature spells than normal, but those creature spells can then be used to flood Warriors with vigilance onto the field. With these creatures acting as a screen to fend off Ryan’s attacks, Morgan will quickly be able to bring his heavier creatures to bear. And…if that wasn’t enough, each of those tokens then activate Mentor of the Meek’s ability, allowing Morgan to quickly draw cards if needed!
If that wasn’t enough, Morgan’s deck is also loaded with several other M19 cards as well! With 4 Militia Bulger cards in his deck, which also allow players to sort low-powered monsters into their hands, which will fuel Mentor of the Meek’s abilities even more! Finally, 3 Suncleanser will also be used to cripple Ryan’s creatures, making it even harder to penetrate the wall of tokens and creatures in his way. From there, Morgan may very well be able to chip away at Ryan’s health and take him down!

Ryan
Ryan is bringing something very special to the table this week! Although most of the decks used on Nights At The Game Table are built by our longtime commentator Aryeh Wiznitzer, Ryan has instead built and customized this deck personally! The deck itself is built around The Scarab God and Vraska’s Contempt. Vraska’s Contempt allows a player to flat-out exile a target creature and gain life, which could turn the tide if it’s used to take out one of Morgan’s most powerful creatures. And if that wasn’t bad enough, The Scarab God will allow Ryan to rip through Morgan’s life, both through the creation of powerful zombie tokens an then drain the opponent’s health! If Morgan isn’t careful, these terrifying creatures and spells could wipe him out before he has a chance to build up his defense!
Of course, Ryan is also bolstering his forces with two M19 cards as well! With the combination of Essence Scatter (to counter creature spells, which are a crux of Morgan’s strategy) and Duress (which can discard from the opponent’s hand), it will be incredibly tough for Morgan to get his heaviest hitters on the table!
