The results of the Free State GT Warhammer 40k tournament is in! And… all Hail our new pointy eared Overlords. While it was a nail biter of an ending for the title of Second place, New Aeldari rules carried them past Custodes and all other challengers.
What is fairly evident with new Aeldari Troops are not favored unless they are Troupes as in Harlequin Troops. Possibly due to how fragile Asuryani troops can be. What can be amazing are Exarchs oftentimes doing as much or more damage than the rest of their squad combined.
Free State GT Winning List #1 Dan Sammons – Asurynai

Dan Sammons is no stranger to the podium. This time winning the Free State GT with Asuryani and Harlequins instead of the T’au originally posted as his factiong. Clearly the switch was the right call as he led the Event with a comfortable margin. Dan took advantage of The powerful casting of Eldrad as well as Ulthwe abilities for casting and re-rolling to wound keeps the big guns relevant while the weight of dice from Support weapons and Dire Avengers.
There is some list confusion as his list shows his Patrol Detachment being refunded 2 command points for having a Harlequin Warlord while simultaneously displaying Eldrad with the Warlord trait in the Vanguard. This is most likely due list writing difficulties using Battlescribe however he did start his games at reduced CP to compensate for this. The Light Patrol can be tough to deal while particularly fast and unmodified hits rolls of 1-3 failing. There is fairly consistent damage from the Void Weavers in this detachment.

Free State GT Second Place: Zaak Kerstetter 2nd place – Drukhari (sort of)
First and foremost Congrats on a great final game 53-47 and going undefeated at this event as well. Drazhar is still the best Phoenix lord in this Drukhari list that takes advantage of new Harlequin rules. The mix of <Kabal> and <Coven> units are allowed in the same detachment as the transports have one or the other but not both.
The custom coven of Artist Flesh has been a staple of competitive Drukhari Covens. The -1 damage ability has been weakened but pairs well with ignore wound abilities.
While the Drukhari battalion can take a hit, the Light Harlequins just avoid being hit. This through the auto fail hits ability and Mirror Architect for Harlequins to make units measure their weapons as if they were 6” further away when shooting.
A hard pill to swallow for auto hitting weapons that tend to be short ranged like Flamers. This Detachment allows for a great place to park To The Last units for ideally an easy 15 points to be had when scoring.

Free State GT 3rd Place Ryan Olsen – Ulthwe
This Ulthwe List takes advantage of brutal Exarchs with his mobile army. To include an Objective Secured Warlock with the relic bike for a 20” move characteristic or an Objective Secured Baharoth. This army is capable of dropping in turn 1 with the Falcon’s as they have the Drop pod wording. Regardless of Mission rules. The flexibility here allows for an unfailable Retrieve Data when bringing the 6 man Dire Avengers. Skipping past the Fragile troops is a good call but there is plenty of CP and CP regeneration for valuable stratagems such as the Dire Avengers shooting twice, Feigned Retreat or Battle Psykers.
