Da Summer Waaagh 2 took place this weekend in Horwich, England. This tournament brought the Waaagh back this summer! Orks piloted by Mani Cheema managed a third place as his round 3 opponent proved Mars makes a better Red and slowed his Speed Waaagh down.

Da Summer Waaagh Tournament Winning Lists

No one could pump the breaks against Jay Woods Drukhari which came in first. Congrats to Matt Charles as his Iron Hands, after a brutal match of 51-47 versus Admech, managed to pull out second place and to Keep Admech off the podium. Also not on the podium were the new Grey Knights.

Da Summer War 1st Place Winning Army: Drukhari

Jay Wood brought the goods to Da Summer Waaagh 2 with efficiency with a side of different efficient when it comes to rerolls for his army. The speed of the raiders with Kabal of the Black Heart and Obsidian rose is guaranteed to bring the pain. Furthermore, with two Kabal patrols that means two squads of Trueborn.

The plethora of Phantasm Grenade Launchers will help squeeze in those mortal wounds. Cult of strife made up the third patrol for fast melee and to stop overwatch for the Incubi and Drazhar as needed. And that was how Da Summer Waaagh 2 was won!

Da Summer Waaagh 2 2nd Place Ironhands

Matt Charles proved the flesh is fairly weak with his second place showing. Forgoing the cost of extra Stormshields, half his vanguard vets in both squads are armed with an extra chainsword instead with a lightning claw. Great when you need the volume of attacks.

Another great choice are his mixed devastators squads. Fortunately, Ironhands don’t suffer the penalty for moving and shooting heavy weapons turn 1. This gets around normal disembark rules which state a unit may never remain stationary. To make it better still both these units will reroll 1s to hit. With two mixed squads of two Multimeltas and two Grav-cannons the right weapon at the right time is ready to to hit on 2s. And with two squads, your opponent can’t intercept and focus down the one key weapon type as the squads are mixed. Well played.

Perhaps the one thing missing from this list is bodyguard for the Character Volkite contemptor but something has to give and Lookout Sir works most of the time with the other Dreadnoughts providing that protection.

Da Summer Waaagh 2 Second Place Winning List: Ironhands

Beware mercy is weakness.

Exploding 6s to wound equals 2 wounds for just one command point. With reroll all wounds on the lightning claws there’s a lot of horde clearing in those vanguard units.

Da Summer Waaagh 2 3rd place Orks

Mani Cheema can make a skew list with the best of them. We Previously covered his list with his first Place Showing at the WC Open Summer Slaughter. Obviously it’s still good. The Mars efficiency and mortals held him off Round 3. Of course the consistent damage of the Cognis Lascannons means every two shots that goes through will pop a buggy. Good thing Mani brought 18 buggies. Unfortunately, the lack of Objective Secured means those Objectives can be stolen from underneath his buggies. However, with 4 100 point games holding objectives is rarely a problem for him. Still 4-1 is still a great showing and well done Mani.
