The results are in and we’ve got the Clutch City GT winning lists! Ninety-Five players battled it out over 6 rounds of competitive play at the Clutch City GT in Houston, Texas.

While it may have seemed like every other army was Adeptus Custodes, the golden boys managed a third place. Bested by Chaos and Tyranids. Clearly 8th edition is broken and those codexes need to be nerfed. But wait, new Tyranids are on their way. Eldar were officially released the day of the event and were not allowed.

The event used Path of Victory scoring so that losses later in the event were not weighed as heavily as those earlier in the event. Now, without further ado here are the winning lists for this week’s GT.

Clutch City 1st Place Kit Smith Hanna – Tyranids

clutch city gt winning lists
Tyranid Haruspex – (c) Games Workshop Ltd. by helgecbalzer

Combining Crusher Stampede with codex supplement Leviathan, Kit increased the tools of his tool box. Granted it’s a toolbox filled with big hammers but not the excessively large one as he did not take the Harridan. The Variety of Big bugs helped him take top place.  One thing to be wary of is the Dimachaeron slingshot using the Swarmlord for easy turn 1 charges. The Harpy is fairly fast as well and gives out fights last. Of course when they do get stuck in they are -1 damage and have a 5+++ to ignore wounds taken.  Pretty good against Adeptus Custodes as their weapons are generaly damage 2.

Again this is a tool box army, with CP regeneration, Redeployment abilties, psychic powers and Psycic interrogation along with synaptic links.

Congratulations on keeping the Dream alive for other 8th edition Codexes and 1st place.

A new Tyranid Codex is on its way, probably making this army even better.

Clutch City 2nd place Georg Bobkov – Mixed Chaos

40k Daemon Primarchs
40k Daemon Primarchs by Trollfeetwalker

Georg Bobkov brought a mixed Chaos Army. Another toolbox army that will surprise folks with lesser used detachment design. Take the Nurgle detachment using the Nurgle keyword to build a detachment using datasheets from 2 different Codexes. The lack of a Deathguard Detachment will prevent the use of Deathguard rules such as stratagems and contagion range but the datasheets themselves will still work. So the Tally Man can make up for the command points lost from multiple detachments with the Chant in each player’s command phase. However, a max of 1 per round will still be in effect.

Psychic powers for Georg’s Heralds (to include the Poxbringer) were not labeled.  The Heralds do make good targets for Daemon stratagems and allow for multiple sources of deny and Psychic Interrogation.

The Emperor’s Children are doing the work in this army. Fighting First is great but the mortal wound output from the Flames of Spite of Warlord Trait combined with Excess of Violence for additional attacks makes great horde clearing. The charging can be fairly reliable with Honour the Prince changing a charge dice into a 6. Again this army has plenty of tools as it has access to the Codex Chaos Space Marines.

Well done Georg coming 2nd place.

Clutch City 3rd place Nathaniel Bjorge – Emissaries Imperatus

Emissaries Imperatus Headquarters
Emissaries Imperatus Headquarters by Sleepydraw

Nathaniel Bjorge was one of several Emissaries Imperatus players at the Clutch City GT.  However, he arrived at the event as Champion of the Iron Cage GT with plenty of practice with his list. Emissaries Imperatus allows for army wide fight first, ignoring penalties to hit and wound excluding the Sisters of Silence.

All of the Sagittarum can advance and shoot both halves of their guns which would total a -2 to hit and simply ignore it. Using the Castellans Mark to redeploy and the Stratagem for one unit to make a normal move the bikes should have an easy time getting exactly where they want to be. Using the Emissaries unique Warlord trait the Vexilla abilities are extended even further with a bonus to leadership as well. The Fulmanaris Aggressor will reach out to 9” to ignore light and heavy cover.

Great Job Nathaniel
