How to paint hive fleet Jormungandr, Hive Fleet Jormungandr is a small group of Tyranids that have been traveling from system to system in the northern regions of our galaxy. They first appeared many years ago, but it wasn’t until 995 AD when they reached their most recent destination.
The Black Nebula outskirts where an armada was waiting for them at this combat zone located between two large sectors filled with unexplored planets, wildernesses and volatile environments perfect conditions for growths such as these creatures.
Jormungandr was a particularly clever Hive Fleet, preferring subtler methods to wage war. The bio-vessels of Jormungandr rarely entered planetary orbit, instead they hovered nearby in deep space and launched spores at their target.
Worlds like ours that were unfortunate enough get caught up with this fleet! When one arrives on land or beaches as an agent for infection known simply by its staple diet (Mycetic Spore) it buries itself underground so as to avoid detection from possible defenses while also waiting out dangerous environmental conditions such us extreme heat waves which can kill off any living thing quickly if left unchecked.
Jormungand’s vanguard was wiped out at Goyan Valley by Chenkov leading over a million Guardsmen of the Valhallan 18th ‘Tundra Wolves’.
The greatest site of resistance were on Sephrax, where loyalists and planet militia from Crimson Castellans Space Marines fought with pirate warbands fronted by renegade elements who had joined them during battles against Hive Fleet Leviathan. When Jormgander descended upon this world both factions unite to combat tyranids.
The Imperial Guard’s sacred manufactorum complexes were under attack by a horde of hungry tyranids who tunnel through armor-plated crust to get at what they desire most.
Tasty flesh! The garrison regiments defend with all weird and arcane weaponry possible, but even their mighty force pylons could not hold back this endless stream.
The mighty Titans of the Legio Annihilator, mounted on their powerful frames and riding high in combat once more against a threat they had repulsed only moments before, was dealt another swift defeat when Jormungandr disgorged yet another danger.
Two creatures resembling Trygons but larger than any reaver titan. With speeds beyond belief it streamed through fire aimed at them with ease while cutting up foes left right rear like knives thrown against armor made from steel that refused to break under pressure.
This monstrosity seemed capable of not just eating away life but also throwing back every attempt made by those who opposed it.
The great fleet assembled by Admiral Vortigern Hanroth was like nothing seen in decades. The dockyards on Bakka and Sodremund could not produce vessels finer than it, with Space Marine Battle Barges alongside loose alliances from smaller worlds such as Cimmeria.
Hanroth’s fleet was like a fractious amalgamation of vessels ill-inclined to cooperate. But at the core, his Imperial Fleet remained disciplined and experienced as any other in service for Imperium! With him on board The Grand Cruiser Crusade.
Leading them into what would be their final charge against Jormungandr. He faced not only many foes but also himself Neuro giant brainwashed by Technocyte organisms grown within its body who could sense powerful emotions coming from nearby which made these ships even more dangerous than expected due so much collateral damage if they got too close or caused explosions when blown apart during combat.
The Space Marines’ victory was hesitant but assured as they fought to save the remainder of their fleet. Jormungandr’s destruction would have been worth it if only one ship from that terrible contest made port.
Many were lost in combat with fierce Hive ships or torn apart by strategically placed mines within its synapse webbing which neighbored some key Node-ships vital to operations against this greater threat.
The Death Spectres Chapter could not afford any losses either. Despite heavy damage done during these weeks long battles, especially after all other formations had fallen away one by one.
Jormungandr children lay sleeping beneath the soil of a hundred worlds, just waiting for their moment to awake. The first was psychological as it was farther north than any previous hive fleet that had been destroyed by galactic defenders before them.
They would have watchful eyes on all borders now because one attack could potentially take down nearly half your territory! Secondly there still remained thousands more who slumbered deep within jormungand’s belly-also at risk should anything go wrong here.
Jormungandr true scale is still being felt today. The Imperium only knew that it had been a devastating force, not knowing the extent of its damage until long after Jourmngandered passed away again at endgame hours during Leviathan’s invasion and reign over Obliterax.
Which led to its population eventually becoming eaten up by these ancient predators
The message doesn’t need too much change since this was written quite some time ago.

Scythe Red
Step 1: Prime the miniature black. Then, spraying only from directly above and at 45 degree angle, use white in a spray can or an airbrush to pre-highlight the miniature. This is called a zenithal highlight.
Step 2: Apply Blood Angels Red contrast paint to a medium sized brush. Carefully apply the paint to the areas that are going to be Scythe Red. Try to do this in a uniform fashion so that you don’t get any overlapping or spotting.
Step 3: Apply Wild Rider Red to a dry brush, specific paintbrush or just an old brush if you don’t have one. Dry brush the Scythe Red areas highlighting the raised areas.
Step 4: Apply Fire Dragon Bright to a fine detail brush. Using the edge of the bristles, draw the brush along the edge of the areas being painted Scythe Red. With the tip of the brush add a little extra paint to the points of the blade, drawing extra attention to them.
Colors used:
- Blood Angels Red
- Wild Rider Red
- Fire Dragon Bright
Paint brushes used:
- The Miniature Paint Brush – Primary Brush, Detail Brush, Dry Brush & Edge Dry Brush.
Slime Pink
Step 1: Prime the miniature black. Then, spraying only from directly above and at 45 degree angle, use white in a spray can or an airbrush to pre-highlight the miniature. This is called a zenithal highlight.
Step 2: Apply Volupus Pink contrast paint to a medium sized brush. Carefully apply the paint to the areas that are going to be Slime Pink. Try to do this in a uniform fashion so that you don’t get any overlapping or spotting.
Step 3: Apply Emperor’s Children to a fine detail brush. Carefully highlight the raised surfaces of the areas being painted Slime Pink. Be careful not to completely cover the areas that were just painted Volupus Pink.
Step 4: Apply Corax White to the very tip of a fine detail brush. With the tip of the brush add a little dots of white to only the uppermost sections being painted Slime Pink, simulating light reflecting off of the wet tissue. Take great care to do this sparingly and do not cover all of the Emperor’s Children from the previous step.
Colors used:
- Volupus Pink
- Emperor’s Children
- Corax White
Paint brushes used:
- The Miniature Paint Brush – Primary Brush and Detail Brush.
Sulphuric Yellow
Step 1: Prime the miniature black. Then, spraying only from directly above and at 45 degree angle, use white in a spray can or an airbrush to pre-highlight the miniature. This is called a zenithal highlight.
Step 2: Apply Iyanden Yellow contrast paint to a medium sized brush. Carefully apply the paint to the areas that are going to be Slime Pink. Try to do this in a uniform fashion so that you don’t get any overlapping or spotting.
Step 3: Apply Yriel Yellow to a dry brush, specific paintbrush or just an old brush if you don’t have one. Dry brush the Sulphuric Yellow areas highlighting the raised areas. DO NOT CLEAN YOUR BRUSH YET!
Step 4: Apply Wraithbone to a dry brush, specific paintbrush or just an old brush if you don’t have one. As you wipe the excess paint off of your brush to prepare for dry brushing, the leftover Yriel Yellow from the previous step will mix with the Wraithbone, creating a perfect highlight for our next step. Dry brush the Sulphuric Yellow areas further highlighting the raised areas.
Colors used:
- Iyanden Yellow
- Yriel Yellow
- Wraithbone
Paint brushes used:
- The Miniature Paint Brush – Primary Brush, Detail Brush, Dry Brush & Edge Dry Brush.
