The results for the London Open October Warhammer 40k tournament are in! As always our Warhammer experts have broken down each army and the overall strategy used to dominate this tournament for your review!
London Open October Warhammer 40k- 1st Place Malik Amin Rubio – Adeptus Mechanics
Malik Amin Rubio is returning from his first place performance at the London Open Major with another 1st Place finish. This Mixed Adeptus Mechanicus list takes advantage of both the Lucios and Mars Forgeworlds. Mainly you can make one very tough block of infantry that can jump around the board for using the Solar Flare with the Lucius perks. Furthermore, the Manipulus can buff that same blob with no penalties to hit. Just in case one does get whittled down, well there’s a second one in the list. Plasma Calivers were added for the extra strength, armour piercing and damage over the standard rifle.
The Mars detachments of two patrols allows for 3 Stratoraptors and 1 Fusilave as well as one more large infantry block. The Rangers as well as the Infiltrators can take advantage of Wrath of Mars to do mortal wounds. Or the Infiltrators can be used to screen for the army but with their ability to leave the board, it leaves them mobile to do actions and the like. The Mars Dogma allows for canticles on the Skitarii units for defense or offense. Which compliments the innate reroll to hit Mars already has. London Open: October – 2nd Place Sid Sidhu – Grey Knights
Sid Sidhu was undefeated going into the round 6 top cut to face Rubin Amin Malik as they played to determine first and second place between themselves. Grey Knights lack units with fly but that didn’t stop Sid Sidhu from crushing every other opponent along the way. Including another Mars triple Stratoraptor list. 5 Dreadknights has proven to be a tough nut for several players to crack this weekend. In Sids list, the Sword Bearer vehicles have access to +1 to wound great for the volume of fire the Dreadknights bring.
Divination on the Brotherhood Techmarine allows a psychic action to Gain a Command Point. Great as that does not stop the Techmarine from awakening spirits for a +1 to hit and repairing the other Dreadknights.
The fast units of Interceptors can hop onto objectives and do their psychic action for easy points to then go onto shoot and charge allowing for high scoring games.

London Open: October – 3rd place Dom Maidlow – Drukhari
Dom Maidlow was the only other undefeated player at the event. However, his two draws were less than the 5 wins Sid had to make the top cut. What’s most interesting about Dom’s list is how he didn’t take a Cult of Strife detachment. Well that and the 3 Court of the Archon detachments two of which are the single model Ur-Ghul from the Blackstone Fortress. The original datasheet shows those units at one power level but in his list they are listed at 5 power level. Either way it’s a 15 point unit for one of the cheapest action monkey units one can take. (Spindle Drones, an unaligned troop are listed in the GW app at 0 points)
Offensively the list relies more on its shooting than other Drukhari list but with the poisoned tongue redeploy, there are plenty of ways to bring the firepower exactly where they want to. Firepower that will most likely hit with Kabal of the Black heart reroll as well as the no penalties to hit of the Trueborn units.
