M19 Deck Lists: Nexus of Fate/Teferi, Hero of Dominaria vs. Death Baron/Liliana's Mastery

Magic Monday is upon us once again, and we’ve teamed up with the experts at Pat’s Games to once again bring you two brand-new decks beefed up with M19 cards! This week, we’ve got Aaron and Saralyn squaring off featuring Nexus of Fate, Death Baron, and plenty more! Will Saralyn’s zombies infect the table, or will Aaron be able to lock her out in an endless chain of turn skips? Check out the deck lists below and make your predictions!

Aaron: Bant Nexus of Fate/Teferi, Hero of Dominaria:

Aaron’s Bant Deck is based primarily around the new M19 Instant Nexus of Fate, and the legendary Planeswalker Teferi, Hero of Dominaria. The goal of these two main cards is to lock out your opponent from taking any turns, using Nexus of Fate’s turn-skipping ability to trap the opponent in a constant barrage of damage. Teferi’s untapping ability ensures that Nexus of Fate will always have the fuel it needs to keep on trucking, and the draw ability will allow the player to quickly cycle through their deck and keep their opponent frozen out.
In order to set up this cycle of endlessly skipping turns, several other M19 cards have been added to the mix as well. The Enchantment Gift of Paradise, a re-release of an Amonkhet card, doubles the output of any single land card in addition to granting 3 extra life, ensuring that the player has the land available to continue playing Nexus of Fate. When combined with 4 copies of the new Root Snare (providing similar support to the venerable Haze of Pollen), Aaron stands a solid chance of holding off the zombie horde long enough to begin chaining turns together!

Saralyn: Black Death Baron/Liliana’s Mastery

The zombies are shuffling to the battlefield in this deck built around Death Baron (an M19 re-release) and Liliana’s Mastery. Death Baron is a Zombie Wizard that buffs nearby skeletons and zombies, as well as granting Deathtouch to ensure that not even the strongest opponents can withstand the zombie virus. Since Liliana’s mastery also offers a buff while also creating tokens, it’s completely possible to flood the field with 4/4 Deathtouch zombies before the opponent can even begin to bring them down!
As if this wasn’t bad enough for an opponent, several additional M19 cards will be making it even easier to create a full-blown zombie apocalypse! With 4 copies of Diregraf Ghoul, a low-cost 2/2 zombie that’s ripe for buffing, as well as Graveyard Marshal and his ability to create 2/2 zombie tokens by exiling cards from the graveyard, there will certainly be plenty to go around! Finally, while the Planeswalker Liliana, Untouched by Death and the spell Murder likely will not be extremely useful due to Aaron’s lack of creatures, the M19 card Duress will allow Saralyn to expel his enchantments and artifacts before they come into play.
